Year-End Tax Information
Interstate Tax-Exempt Fund Year-End Percentages - 2009
To Investors in Reserve Interstate Tax-Exempt Fund:
Tax exempt dividends paid to you in 2009 were reported to you in Box 8 of Form 1099-INT. These dividends must be reported as "tax-exempt interest income" on your federal income tax return.
Interest income from certain securities the Interstate Tax-Exempt Fund (the Fund) invested in during calendar year 2009 is subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax ("AMT"). Of the tax-exempt interest dividends paid to you by the Fund, 16.23% represents income generated from AMT securities that, depending upon your own tax situation, may subject you to the alternative minimum tax. You should multiply this percentage by the total dividends you received to determine your AMT income for the year from The Reserve.
The following table provides the percentage breakdown by state and U.S. possessions of the municipal interest, which the Fund derived from its investments during the year 2009. You can determine the amount of dividends earned from investments in your state by multiplying the Fund dividends reported under the "Year-to-Date 2009" heading on your December 2009 year-end statement by the percentage shown next to the appropriate state. Please consult your tax advisor to determine whether dividends from the Fund are exempt in your state or U.S. possession of residence.
